About Rev. Adonna Reid

Hails from Montclair, New Jersey where she grew up the younger of two daughters. From an early age, Rev. Reid was active in church.  Her faith and church involvement helped sustain her on the campuses of Yale and Harvard, where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree and Master of Business Administration, respectively. She also earned a Master of Divinity Degree from Garrett Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois, after which she was ordained an Elder in the United Methodist Church.

Prior to assuming the leadership of South Shore UMC, Rev. Reid served as Associate Pastor at St. Mark UMC in Chicago’s Chatham neighborhood. She serves on various boards and committees in the denomination and in the community. Her work in the parishes she has served has reflected her desire to see all of God’s children thrive and achieve their God-given potential through education and activities that provide opportunities for growth and development both spiritually and academically.

Rev. Reid is married to her graduate school sweetheart, N. Neville Reid. The couple  has five children: Julian, Winston, Everett, Emmanuel, and Rebecca, and daughter-in-law, Carmen.  Rev. Reid is a member of several civic organizations including The Windy City Chapter of Jack and Jill of America, Inc. and Delta Sigma Theta , Incorporated.
